Logan and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny director James Mangold has stated that he will be writing and directing DC Studios‘ upcoming Swamp Thing movie.
While attending Star Wars Celebration — where it was announced that he was directing his own Star Wars movie — Mangold confirmed to Collider for the first time that he is writing and directing Swamp Thing.
“We’ll see what comes to fruition first,” the director said. “The truth is I’m writing both right now and who knows what’s going to happen and what’s going to blossom first or second … I’m acknowledging I’m doing Swamp Thing … It’s not a rumor, it’s happening. “
DC Studios Co-CEO James Gunn quote-tweeted the video clip and said that Mangold was “one of the first people he talked to” when he began charting the DCU’s course, and that Swamp Thing is Mangold’s “passion project.”
The DC Universe’s first phase, called Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, will feature a multitude of different movies and television shows. A few of the announced projects include Superman: Legacy, a Batman and Robin-focused movie called The Brave and the Bold, a Supergirl movie titled Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, a Swamp Thing film, and multiple TV shows.
