Fantastic Four MCU Movie Will Reportedly Be ‘Very Cosmic’

Not too much is known about the upcoming Marvel StudiosFantastic Four film. However, according to Above the Line’s Jeff Sneider, the cosmic aspect of the group will be explored.

Speaking during a recent episode of The Hot Mic podcast with John Rocha, Sneider briefly touched on the upcoming film. He mentioned the recent news of Josh Friedman (Avatar: The Way of Water) being tapped to rewrite the film’s script. Sneider noted that writers Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer’s draft of the film was well received, but someone else was brought in regardless.

“Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer’s draft of Fantastic Four was fine, but they brought in that new writer to get it to the level that Kevin Feige and Matt Shakman wanted. Marvel is still open to working with Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer again,” said Sneider.

Elsewhere in the discussion, Sneider then revealed that the film is going to be “very cosmic” and also teased two of the major characters that might appear in the film.

“I’m told that Matt Shakman is planning to go very cosmic with his Fantastic Four movie. Lots of 1960s elements, and that the film will feature both Galactus and the Silver Surfer,” Sneider said.

The revelation that Galactus and Silver Surfer could appear in the movie comes as a surprise, as Galactus is not only one of the most iconic villains in all of Marvel, but an entity that many fans thought could be used as one of the next major villains of the MCU. Of course, it’s unknown if this is true as of yet, so fans will have to wait until Marvel Studios confirms more to know for sure.

Marvel’s Fantastic Four comic book series, created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, debuted in 1961 and was the first superhero team title produced by Marvel Comics. The film is set to make its debut during Phase 6 of the MCU on February 14, 2025.
