Days after it was reported that Morena Baccarin had not been confirmed to return in Deadpool 3, it has been revealed by Deadline that Baccarin and fellow Deadpool alum Stefan Kapicic will be reprising their respective roles in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel.
Baccarin played the titular antihero’s love interest Vanessa in both Deadpool and Deadpool 2, while Kapicic appeared in both previous movies as the X-Men member Piotr Nikolayevich Rasputin/Colossus, who has the ability to turn his body into metal. The duo join previously announced returning cast members Karan Soni and Leslie Uggams, as well as new additions Emma Corrin and Matthew Macfadyen.
Deadpool 3 is being written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick from a previous draft by Bob’s Burgers duo Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige previously assured fans that it will remain an R-rated film — just like the first two movies, which would make it the studio’s first movie with said mature rating.
It will serve as the first movie in the Deadpool film series to be released following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox. The film is currently scheduled to release on November 8, 2024.
