Jude Law (The Talented Mr. Ripley) and Nicholas Hoult (The Menu) have signed on for the leading roles in Justin Kurzel’s upcoming crime thriller titled The Order. According to Deadline, the project will be based on the crimes committed by a racist domestic terrorist group called The Silent Brotherhood.
The Order will be directed by Justin Kurzel (True History of the Kelly Gang) from a screenplay written by Oscar nominee Zach Baylin (King Richard), based on Kevin Flynn and Gary Gerhardt’s The Silent Brotherhood book. Production is expected to begin this May in Alberta, Canada.
“In 1983, a series of increasingly violent bank robberies, counterfeiting operations and armored car heists frightened communities throughout the Pacific Northwest,” reads the synopsis. “As baffled law enforcement agents scrambled for answers, a lone FBI agent (Law), stationed in the sleepy, picturesque town of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, came to believe the crimes were not the work of traditional, financially motivated criminals but a group of dangerous domestic terrorists, inspired by a radical, charismatic leader (Hoult), plotting a devastating war against the federal government of the United States.”
The film will be produced by Law through his Riff Raff Entertainment banner and Bryan Haas for Chasing Epic Pictures, with Kurzel, Baylin, Ben Jackson, and Stephen Fuss, Kate Susman, Jeremy Saulnier, and Zach Garrett serving as executive producers. It also hails from AGC Studios.
