Black Panther: Wakanda Forever dipped 63 percent in its sophomore frame and earned $67.3 million, enough to keep it atop the domestic box office for the second-straight week, per Deadline. While lower than projected (and roughly 2 percent behind Doctor Strange 2’s second week), the hold for Black Panther 2 is still relatively strong considering its massive runtime. Plus, there’s a chance many are waiting for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday to see Ryan Coolger’s epic, especially with no other big-budget release to choose from.

Worldwide, the Marvel pic has amassed $546.3 million, which places it as the No. 8 highest-grossing film of 2022. On Imax, Black Panther 2 has collected $34.9 million globally.

Elsewhere, comedy/thriller The Menu opened in 3,211 theaters with a so-so $9 million, which doesn’t bode well for the $30 million production. While Universal’s Harvey Weinstein drama She Said earned just $2.25 million from 2,022 theaters. The Chosen: Season 3, meanwhile, earned $8.2 million from 2,012 theaters, while Black Adam landed at No. 4 with a 3-day total of $4.48 million to raise its domestic cume to $156.9 million. After five weeks of release, The Rock’s latest action epic has earned $366.2 million globally.

This would have been an opportune time for Hollywood to unleash the likes of Disenchanted, Spirited, or even A Christmas Story Christmas, all of which are streaming on Disney+, Apple TV+, and HBO Max.
